HOW TO DETERMINE THE CAPACITY OF INVERTER TO USE FOR YOUR SOLAR SYSTEM
What is inverter?
Inverter is an electronic device that converts direct currents (DC) to alternating currents (AC).
our basic home appliances are rated in different capacities, to determine the actual size or capacity of the inverter that can carry your appliance, you have to add - up the different wattage of all the devices that will be on and running at the same time. e.g:
S/N Device Watt
1. television 100
2 fan 60
3. bulb 100
4. iron 1000
5 . fridge 400
1660W
from the details above, the total watts of the devices sum up is 1660 watts. therefore, on no account will you use an inverter rated below 1660W to power the appliances. i advice you to buy an inverter of 2.5kva that is 2500Watts capacity for the above. the allowance created between 1660 to 2500 is needed for the smooth running of the inverter. and in case, you add additional television or bulb, you wount have immediate need to buy a new inverter since the one you have already still have some allowances.
hope you enjoyed the notes....
